About the Artist
“As a designer, I focus on crafting small batch ceramics that showcase the material’s natural beauty, blending form and color with practical functionality—a fusion of aesthetics and usefulness.” - Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman
Designer and ceramic artist Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman is the founder of Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman Ceramics, the founder and CEO of Interwoven Design Group, and a professor of industrial design at Pratt Institute. With over 20 years of experience in performance athletic apparel, wearable technology, and consumer product design, Rebeccah brings a unique perspective to her handmade ceramic tableware. Her work seamlessly blends the methodology and innovation of design with the organic charm and technical skill of handcrafted ceramics.
Her ceramic work is deeply inspired by the serene landscapes of the Hudson Valley. The rolling hills and breathtaking scenery fuel her creativity, pushing her to create pieces that capture the essence of the region. Rebeccah’s tableware not only showcases the natural beauty of clay but also embodies the warmth and charm of handmade craftsmanship. Each piece is meticulously hand-cut, formed, and glazed using a dip and pour method that celebrates the delightful imperfections and variations inherent in the process.
Rebeccah's journey into ceramics began with her love for hosting informal gatherings. She started crafting tableware to enhance these occasions, and her creations quickly became sought after by friends and family. Today, her small batch, handmade organic modern tableware is available for anyone to enjoy.
