Sketch Books

  • SKETCH BOOK no. 1

I use my sketchbooks to loosen up. This is a layered process, much like my ceramic work. I begin with collage—fragments of printed photos (most of them are from my phone), torn paper, and found objects — then drawing layers in marker and pencil before adding ink, water color and guache that drip, bleed, and flow unpredictably, echoing the movement of glaze on clay. This space allows for spontaneity, a place to experiment before bringing ideas into the studio. The interplay of control and chaos keeps the work alive, pushing me to embrace the unexpected. These pages are a record of exploration, a reminder that creativity thrives in letting go and responding to what emerges.

  • SKETCH BOOK no. 2

This sketchbook explores refinement and restraint. I still begin with collage, but the compositions are quieter, more deliberate. Ink and paint flow like glaze, yet there’s a focus on knowing when to stop. By embracing minimalism, I explore how subtle shifts in form and texture can hold the same energy as more complex compositions.
